In am pleased to inform you that in our special Commissioners’ Court meeting on April 1st, the Kerr County Commissioners’ Court approved my resolution opposing the Howard – Solstice 745 kV transmission line (shown below) and also approved filing a comment in Public Utilities Commission of Texas’ (PUCT) system in protest of the proposed transmission lines passing through Kerr County with the signed resolution attached. Unfortunately Judge Rob Kelly abstained from the vote, so the resolution was only signed by all four commissioners. We did hear from a couple of the Kerr County landowners who were very concerned about the line’s proximity to their home. They were grateful for the action we took. I also personally filed a protest in PUCT’s system along with the letter which is also shown below.
I will continue to fight against unnecessary infrastructure whose excessive cost will be borne by all electricity ratepayers across Texas. Texas needs to stop relying on unreliable wind and solar energy and instead install clean conventional (natural gas or nuclear) on-demand power generation capacity in close proximity to the end users (e.g. large urban areas, data centers, etc.). Texas should also put the burden of power generation on the AI Centers and Data Centers rather than the electricity ratepayers across the state.
