My Qualifications

I was blessed with a very successful career in oil and gas that spanned more than 36 years and took me all over the world. I started as a petroleum engineer and served in several executive positions before I retired in 2015. I have extensive experience in executive management, project management, business development, and Supply Chain Management including contracts and procurement. I’ve been responsible for annual budgets in excess of $1B and I’ve played a key role in several multi-billion-dollar projects. I have plenty of experience managing large budgets, prioritizing expenditures and making difficult decisions to reduce costs, which is what it will take to manage the County’s budget and rein in unnecessary or ineffective spending to keep our rising property taxes under control. I’ve met Heads of State and successfully negotiated agreements with senior government officials. My strengths include my strong leadership and my consistent delivery of outstanding results. I quickly assess situations and problems, and I make sound decisions with appropriate stakeholders involved. And as a petroleum engineer, I have a thorough understanding of geology, aquifers, and our water availability issues, and I am uniquely qualified among the candidates to help address these concerns to ensure that our growth is proactively planned, and we are prepared for the next severe drought.
