The election results were as follows: Prop A was 41% for and 59% against. Prop B was 43% for and 57% against. Proposition C managed to pass 55% for to 45% against. I consider this a win for the taxpayers of Kerr County. The establishment spent a lot of money on their campaign for the bonds. They certainly had at least 5 times the number of signs, but our “NOonABC” signs were far better! It’s not easy to defeat bonds, but we managed to defeat the two biggest ones (amounting to 80% of the $27.5 million total). I give credit to Kerrville Pets Alive for their passionate push for Proposition C. They have a big network and had people at all the polling places waving signs and working the heartstrings of animal-loving voters. As your Commissioner, I will take a close look at the detailed scope of work and Request for Proposal in an effort to ensure that the new shelter is completed as cost effectively as possible, hopefully at a much lower cost than the $5.75 million approved in the bond.
My thanks go out to everyone who helped in the fight. We the People – Liberty in Action especially helped get the word out. You are now a force to be reckoned with. The Center Point Committee for Growth and Progress also provided invaluable support.
Congrats and thanks to all!
