The following slides are excerpts from the presentation I gave at the Kerr County Patriots Club meeting on August 18th. While the Judge’s proposed budget is based on the current tax rate of 0.4322/$100 of value, I will be advocating for a lower no new taxes rate of 0.3831 as I believe that this is not the time to raise property taxes when so many are trying to recover from the devastating July 4th flood, and I believe that we have an adequate reserve balance to enable us to do so. Further, the county has a long history of budgeting conservatively and ending the fiscal year with a much higher reserve balance that estimated when the budget was approved.
