Rapid Intervention Team Training

Earlier today the CPVFD conducted RIT training at Station 8-1 in Center Point. For this training we clear out the station and erect temporary half walls and other obstacles to simulate the inside of a house on fire. We turn off all the lights and a smoke generator is used to simulate a smoke filled home with zero visibility inside. Then we suit up in full bunker gear with SCBA and two person teams take turns entering the building and systematically crawling the floor in the dark looking for a victim to rescue. We have to train regularly to stay prepared to respond when called upon. RIT training is just one of many types of training we conduct.
