I have asked our Kerr County Commissioners Court to join Kinney, Edwards, Goliad, Terrell, Presidio, Maverick, Parker and Atascosa counties in passing a resolution to declare an invasion at the border. There is no doubt that the more than 2 million migrants who have illegally crossed Texas’ southern border in the last year and a half is in fact an invasion and a challenge to our State’s sovereignty.
This invasion crisis is affecting every county in Texas and nearly every state in our union. It is overwhelming our social support systems and placing a huge financial burden on taxpayers. The Mexican cartels are the only ones in control of our border. They are profiting from horrific human trafficking and gang related crime, and are flooding our streets with fentanyl and other lethal drugs. More than 50 suspected terrorists have been apprehended since Biden took over.
Sheriff Larry Leitha has been very clear that illegal immigration has increased crime and drug use in our county.
Kerr County should join the other Texas counties who have declared an invasion at our border and press Governor Abbott to declare an invasion and start deporting those who violate our laws by crossing into Texas illegally. I wrote to Governor Abbott a month ago asking him why he has not taken this action, however sadly I have not received any response to my query. The current catch and release policy is a complete waste of our tax dollars. Illegal immigration will only subside when we start deporting all illegal immigrants, which will remove the incentive to come. I urge the Court to move a resolution to declare an invasion at our Texas border, using the resolution prepared by American Stewards of Liberty. If enough counties declare an invasion perhaps Governor Abbott will finally do the same.
Reach out to your Commissioner and ask him to support a resolution to declare an invasion at our border and a local Kerr County crisis as a result of the border invasion.
