Successful Search & Rescue!

Earlier today, five members of the CPVFD participated in a large search and rescue operation on several ranches off Sharon Drive in Bandera County. A five-year-old boy became missing the night before after dinner. We received the call for help a little after 6:00 am this morning. Numerous first responders turned out to search several hundred acres of brush and pasture in the area surrounding the boy’s home. As news of the search operation got out, more volunteers poured in to assist. By mid-morning, several hundred volunteers were combing the area. A DPS helicopter conducted an aerial search, which eventually found the boy walking around roughly 1.2 miles from home. He was fine, just cold and a bit dehydrated. As you can imagine, the boy’s mother was overjoyed to be reunited with her missing son! We were all delighted with the success of the search operation. I was amazed by the outpouring of support from the community.

We were initially waiting on search dog teams to complete a search of the nearby area.
